In cooperation with churches, AEE proclaims the good news of Jesus Christ bringing many to salvation and a living experience of Jesus in their lives. AEE teams carry out evangelistic campaigns during missions and conferences. AEE has a firm faith in the bible as the authoritative word of God and works towards bringing people from all walks of life to the knowledge of God through His word and challenging everyone to live as a man or woman of God.
Evangelism - Deed AspectAEE ministry addresses the whole person through the preaching, teaching healing the sick and giving bread to the hungry. The Aid and Development department operates sustainable projects in cooperation with churches and other community based organizations. Some projects are designed and implemented to relieve human suffering and improve quality of life of communities. These include such programmes as accelerated immunization programme involving health training and immunization services to communities.
AEE is involved in Leadership Training for leaders in different churches to equip them with the capacity for evangelism and Christian leadership. Training efforts are intended to bring spiritual renewal and revival, improvement in ministry leadership and managerial skills. Conferences seminars and workshops are also organized for civic, political, business, professional and cultural leaders in responsible positions to equip them with Christian value-based skills to enable them undertake their work.
Aid and Social work are part of AEE ministry. This started in 1978 when the late Festo Kivengere saw the need of many exiles who had run away from the terror of Idi Amin. Aid to such people started with finding them employment and scholarships under a programme called RETURN. Later after the liberation war in 1979, some relief / emergency projects were undertaken to assist the returnees, and immunization programmes have been going on ever since. Both short term and long term assistance to communities continue.
AEE delivers efficient community-based services to millions of people in this country. The scholarship programme has enabled over 10,000 of the underprivileged of Ugandan children attain education up to university. Family empowerment projects have also been established to enable families of the sponsored children to undertake income-generating activities to improve on their income levels.
AEE has contributed to the development of rural communities in various way like building 32 primary schools to supplement UPE.
The individual child care programmes are gradually being phased out by 2007 and replaced by Community Development projects.
In addition, AEE supports children’s homes like St. Moses in Njeru and Tooro Babies home in Fort Portal. With funds available AEE would wish to increase coverage.
In 2000 AEE with her partners started a transformational shift from individual child support to community support. This involved phasing out the child care programmes.
Community development (CD) projects have already been started using the self help group, or 'SHG', approach that focuses on an intergrated holistic involvement of the poor of the poorest sections in the community.
So far five CD projects have already been started in Omoladyang Lira, Nangara in Kabale, Namayumba in Wakiso , Lubaale in Mpigi and Kaguma in Fortportal. Preparations are underway to start 8 more CDS in different areas of the country.
AEE has established vocational training centers to provide skills training to young people as a means of capacity building and provision of quality services. The following have been established:
Over 2000 students are trained annually in these vocational centers
AEE started the Kainamo Micro Finance Initiative in Kainamo – Kitagata Bushenyi to help rural farmers and micro business. It is financed by Christian Partners of Africa from UK. Over 300 have befitted from this scheme. Evangelism is one of the core principles of this Initiative.
CURATIVE SERVICES - out-patient clinic which provides primary medical care services in the form of curative and referral services, laboratory services and also offers maternal and child care services.
The Milne Medical Clinic located in Lugala Namungoona a suburb of Kampala and Bukaya Health Center in Njeru
Home Based Care project which mainly addresses HIV/AIDS management at home. The main stay of the project is to train Home Based Care Facilitators who in turn train Home Based Care Givers. So far 90 Home Based Care Facilitators from Lubya Parish have been trained and given Home Based Care Medical Kits
Water and Sanitation: This project aims at improving personal, home and environmental hygiene and malaria control, thus prevent the common ailments in the community.
The beneficiary communities of Nakulabye, Kasubi and Lubya parishes of North Lubaga division are mobilized and sensitized so that they are fully involved in these activities, thus building their capacity to own, monitor and maintain these structures. Sustainability of the structures is a responsibility of the community
