In 2000 AEE with her partners started a transformational shift from individual child support to community support. This involved phasing out the child care programmes.

| Community development (CD) projects have already been started using the self help group, or 'SHG', approach that focuses on an intergrated holistic involvement of the poor of the poorest sections in the community. |

•So far five CD projects have already been started in Omoladyang Lira, Nangara in Kabale, Namayumba in Wakiso , Lubaale in Mpigi and Kaguma in Fortportal. Preparations are underway to start 8 more CDS in different areas of the country.
